It's Not My Time
"It's not my time."
"Well, when would be a good time?"
"God will let me know."
"I believe God sent us here today to let you know that the time is now."
"No, it's not my time."

That's a typical conversation with someone who is not ready to receive Jesus as Lord.  Usually, it's followed by a shrug of the shoulders, a shaking of the head, and a slightly embarrassed smile.

This is the flip B side that our church members experience on mission trips from Canada to Brazil to our own backyard.  On the A side, there is nothing more encouraging and exciting than to take a step of faith on a mission trip and then realize you're flying leaps and bounds on a spiritual high.

What little faith we place in God's hands becomes a deepened, greater faith that He molds and shapes for further use.  Whether it's construction, backyard Bible clubs or working a medical clinic - there is a great fulfillment that God used you in reaching, caring and teaching others about Jesus.

But there's something extra special - extra scarier - and even more extra fulfilling when you share the "good news" of salvation with someone and confront them with making a decision about Christ at that moment.

It is thrilling to experience how God used you as you shared and led a soul from the depths of darkness to the glory of Light.
It is frustrating to experience how God used you as you shared and led a soul from the depths of darkness . . .and they decided to stay there.

You can't help but take it personally either way - but in both instances - our caring God is preparing, tenderizing and nurturing every soul.

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God causes the growth . . .I Cor. 3:5

My message and preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power . . .I Cor. 2:4

I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. . .Romans 1:16

It is by His Power and Love that we come to know Him.  It is also by His Power and Love that we have opportunities to share Him with someone else.  That's our mission no matter where we are.

Thought of the Day
God gave us two ears and only one mouth, which indicates we should listen twice as much as we talk.
Verse of the Day
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."
Colossians 3:16
